Upcoming Bell Schedule Modification

3
Dear Mountain View Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to inform you of a slight adjustment to our daily bell schedule, which will go into effect on May 26th, 2026.

We are always looking for new ways to support our students’ growth, both in and out of the classroom. After a careful review of our current schedule, we’ve decided to add a few extra minutes to Homeroom and 6th Period starting this year. This proactive shift gives us the chance to see how the new timing works in practice, ensuring we have the best possible schedule in place for the future.

What is Changing?
  • Entering the Building: Students will now enter the building at 7:50 a.m. The tardy bell will continue to ring at 8:10 a.m.
  • Homeroom: This period will be extended by 4 minutes. This extra time will be used for social-emotional learning, school announcements, and targeted student check-ins.
  • 6th Period: This period will be extended by 3 minutes to allow for staggered release times and end-of-day announcements.
  • Wednesday Bell Schedule: Reflects 3-4 extra minutes in 1st and 6th, due to no Homeroom that day.

Why are we making this change?
Our goal is to provide students with a more consistent "home base" in the morning to start their day focused, while ensuring that their final academic period at the end of the day has enough time for meaningful closure and project-based learning.

Note: School start and dismissal times will not change. We have adjusted passing periods by 1 minute and other transitions to accommodate these instructional gains without lengthening the overall school day. Students will now have 3 minutes each passing period.

We appreciate your continued support as we work to provide the best possible environment for our students. If you have any questions regarding these changes, please feel free to contact the main office.

Best regards,

Ralph Wisner, Principal, MVMS
